PÄramÄ«s are excellences, while pÄramitÄs are perfections. PÄra "the far bank" with mita "that which has arrive" could assemble to mean "arrivals beyond" or "transcendences", as the Tibetan Buddhists' take it.
10 pÄramitÄs of Theravada (Pali)
- dÄna - generosity
- sīla - ethics, morality, Right Conduct
- nekkhamma - detachment, Right Intention
- paĆ±Ć±Ä - wisdom, realizing anicca, dukkha, anatta; same as prajƱÄ
- viriya - energy, enthusiasm, effort, diligence; same as vīrya
- khanti - patience, forbearance, forgiveness
- sacca - real, true
- adhiį¹į¹hÄna - resolve, willpower
- mettÄ - loving-kindness, benevolence
- upekkhÄ - equanimity, impartiality
